What is Myah OS? Is Myah OS free? What CPU's will Myah OS run on? Will Myah OS run on my 64bit CPU? Will Myah OS run on my dual or quad core CPU? Why is Myah OS compiled for 32 bit not 64? Can I install Myah OS to the hard drive? Will Myah OS run from a USB flash drive? What is Myah OS? Myah OS is a complete range of original Linux desktop systems. This Operating System uses the Linux Kernel along with GNU open source software. Myah OS comes ready to use on a LiveCD. This LiveCD will boot your computer right off the CD into a running Myah OS Desktop. This LiveCD will let you see Myah OS in action without making any changes to your computer. However Myah OS is much more suited to running natively off of an internal Harddrive. Myah OS comes if several varieties featuring different Linux Desktops. Is Myah OS free? Yes Myah OS is free. The CD download, binary packages and support are all given freely. But there is a lot of hard work and energy that goes into Myah OS. So please if can, we do take donations. What CPU's will Myah OS run on? Myah OS is compiled for i686. This means it will work on Intel Pentium 1 Pro and newer. Since AMD is also an intel class chip it will run on AMD k6 and newer. In simpler terms that means any personal computer Built in the last 10 years. Personal Computers or PC's do not include Apple Mac's with the Motoralla chips. Will Myah OS run on my 64bit CPU? Myah OS is compiled for i686. So yes it will run on Intel and AMD 32 and 64 bit CPU's Will Myah OS run on my dual or quad core CPU? Intel and AMD dual and quad core CPU's are viewed by the kernel as a single chip. The chip it self will send information out to each core as it likes. So Myah OS will run the same on a single, dual, triple or quad core. Ofcourse performance will be better between similar chips with more cores. Why is Myah OS compiled for 32bit not 64bit? There is no real benifit to to running a system compiled specificly for 64 bit. Binaries and libraries are 50% larger then there 32 bit counterparts. The same is true for the amount of ram it takes for the 64 bit versions. The running speed of a 64 bit system is actually slower then a 32 bit system on the same hardware. So again there is no upside to running a 64 bit system. But a 32 bit system will run faster on a 64 bit CPU. Can I install Myah OS to my hard drive? Yes Myah OS is actually made specifically to run off of a hard drive. This is the prefered method. The Myah OS Live Installer will take your LiveCD and install it fully to your hard drive. The only think you will need to setup before hand is a partition. You must have a partition of at least 5gig ( 20 recommend ) created before hand. Will Myah OS run from a USB flash drive? Yes the Myah OS Live Installer will install to a USB flash drive. It will repartition it. Then Format it and install Myah OS onto it as a live install. The USB flash drive will now boot just like your LiveCD did. However you will need a computer with the ability to boot off of a USB.
